When you’re looking for a compact car, who do you turn to first? Ford or Toyota? That’s a big question because both manufacturers offer their own impeccable versions of the compact sedan: the 2017 Ford Focus and the 2017 Toyota Corolla. We wrote this vehicle comparison so you could decide for yourself.
Here at The Lake Dealerships, we strive to serve our customers in Lewistown, State College, Bellefonte, Port Matilda, and the surrounding Pennsylvania communities. Please reach out to us with any questions.
Right off the bat, let’s see how the two cars compare in that all-important category: performance. The 2017 Ford Focus does quite well, with its available 2.0L Ti-VCT four-cylinder engine. It delivers up to 160 horsepower at 6,500 RPM and up to 146 lb-ft of torque at 4,450 RPM. Now that’s quite impressive, eh?
On the other hand, the 2017 Toyota Corolla’s standard engine doesn’t fare so well. The 1.8L machine only generates as much as 132 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 128 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 RPM. Oh no!
With the Focus, efficiency isn’t a problem either. The manufacturer’s website explains its Ti-VCT technology: “twin independent variable camshaft timing…adjusts both the intake and exhausts cams to keep the engine running at maximum efficiency as the engine speed and torque change.” How amazing!
However, engine power isn’t all that you’ll get with the 2017 Focus. You can also look forward to a host of advanced technologies that’ll make your driving experience easier, safer, and more convenient.
How will Ford make it easier? Try infotainment features like SYNC® 3 with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility. How will Ford make it safer? How about driver-assistive systems, such as the Blind Spot Information System, the Lane-Keeping System, and the Reverse Sensing System. How will Ford make it more convenient? With two smart-charging USB ports, an available push-to-start button, and more.
The 2017 Corolla also provides an optional push-to-start button, as well as a few connectivity features that’ll allow you to hook up your smartphone to the vehicle’s infotainment system. But, if we’re being honest, we don’t like Toyota’s tech suite as much as Ford’s. There’s just something about a nice Ford.
In addition to the Ford Focus sedan, you can drive it in a few different styles. We’re talking about a three-door hatchback, a five-door hatchback, a station wagon, a coupe, and even a Ford Focus electric edition.
Well, it looks like the Ford Focus is the big winner—over the 2017 Toyota Corolla, at least. What should you do next? We’d recommend setting up a test drive at The Lake Dealerships! It’s a very simple process.
It doesn’t matter where you live—Port Matilda, Bellefonte, State College, Lewistown, or anywhere else. You’re welcome here and that’s what counts. Get in touch with us today if you’re interested.
