A midsize sedan is popular among Lewistown, State College, and Bellefonte drivers for its size, reliability, and features. Two of the most well-known midsize cars on the road today are the Ford Fusion and Toyota Camry. But which one is best for you?
Our team at The Lake Dealership will help answer that question with this 2018 Ford Fusion vs. Toyota Camry comparison. Here, we’ll go over each vehicle’s performance, interior features, and safety options. After reading this comparison, you’ll know for sure which one you want to get behind the wheel of for a test drive.
Both sedans offer the power you’re wanting for driving on city streets and open highways. The Ford Fusion V6 Sport trim has a powerful 2.7L turbocharged EcoBoost® engine and a 6-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Together, they help the vehicle produce 325 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. The 2018 Ford Fusion also comes with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, which helps maximize traction on slippery roads.
While the Toyota Camry also has an impressive performance, its most powerful engine isn’t as powerful the one in the Fusion. The Camry’s 3.5L V6 only produces 301 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, the Camry doesn’t have an all-wheel drive system.
The Fusion and Camry each seat five, but you’ll have more room to stretch out in the Ford Fusion. The 2018 Fusion has 44.3 inches of front legroom and 38.3 inches of rear legroom. The 2018 Camry, on the other hand, has just 42.1 inches of front legroom and 38 inches of rear legroom.
Passenger room and trunk space are also more expansive in the Ford Fusion. It has 102.8 inches of total passenger volume and a 16-cubic-foot trunk. The Toyota Camry, however, only has 100.4 inches of passenger volume and a 15.1-cubic-foot trunk.
You can easily adjust your seat in the Ford Fusion to get nice and comfortable behind the wheel with the 10-way power driver’s seat. And, if you and another person frequently trade off with driving responsibilities, the Fusion has a 2-memory feature to keep those settings saved. Unfortunately, not only does the Toyota Camry only have an 8-way power driver’s seat, but it doesn’t offer the 2-memory setting feature either.
The 2018 Ford Fusion and 2018 Toyota Camry are secure vehicles designed to give you peace of mind. They each come with many driver-assist safety features to help prevent a collision.
Some of the safety features in the Ford Fusion are:
Another helpful feature in the Ford Fusion is Enhanced Active Park Assist. When you’re driving slowly near parking spots, the system will use ultrasonic sensors to scan for an available spot. When it detects a spot, the park assist system will slowly and smoothly parallel park or back into a perpendicular parking space. All you’ll need to do is shift, accelerate, and brake when appropriate.
While the Toyota Camry’s safety features are equally impressive, it doesn’t come with anything like Enhanced Active Park Assist.
The 2018 Toyota Camry is a great vehicle, but it doesn’t compare to the performance, interior, or safety in the 2018 Ford Fusion.
