2014 Ford F-150 Review

If you’re looking for the value of a used vehicle with all the ruggedness and capability of a modern pickup truck, the 2014 Ford F-150 is the perfect choice for you. As one of America’s best-selling trucks, the F-150 is impressive in any year, but the 2014 model came with a range of powerful engines, pleasant driving dynamics, and an upscale, functional cabin that feels more like a luxury sedan than a practical pickup. Drivers in Lewistown, State College, and Bellefonte can learn more about the 2014 Ford F-150 with our in-depth model review.

Performance and Towing

The F-150 can be equipped with a range of engines. The base model comes with a 3.7L V6 that’s ideal for daily driving, though those looking for more hauling and towing capacity will prefer the 5.0L V8 engine with 360 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque, the 3.5L turbocharged EcoBoost® V6 engine with 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque or the 6.2L V8 engine with 411 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque. All engines mate to a 6-speed automatic transmission. When properly equipped, the F-150 can haul up to 3,120 pounds in the bed and tow up to 11,300 pounds, both of which are impressive offerings in the class and still come close to today’s numbers. Features like trailer sway control and a trailer brake controller enhance the towing safety and security as well.

Interior Comfort and Space

The F-150 comes in three configurations: Regular cab, SuperCab, and SuperCrew, offering seating for three to six people. Lower trim levels are designed for fleets, with easy-to-clean vinyl upholstery and few creature comforts, but the F-150 can be equipped with luxury options like leather upholstery, power-adjustable seating, heated seating, and ventilated front seats. In any configuration, the F-150 has ample space for passengers, especially in the rear seat of the SuperCrew, as well as comfortable, supportive seating that’s ideal for long trips. The bed options for the F-150 include a 5.5-foot, 6.5-foot or 8-foot bed, depending on the cab configuration. The larger configurations come with split-folding rear seats that allow storage of bulky cargo in the cabin, and the SuperCrew has a flat rear floor for storing large cargo. There’s also an optional tailgate step for easier access into the cargo bed and added convenience.

Technology

Though it’s a few years old, the F-150 has technology features that rival some of the best on the current market. The voice-activated SYNC® infotainment system, which includes Bluetooth® connectivity and a variety of third-party app features, is available for several trim levels. The MyFord Touch infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, and satellite radio is also available. This system is easy to use and has some enhanced functionality for pickup drivers. The redundant buttons are there for climate control and some other basic functions, allowing workers to easily access the information they need while wearing gloves. A smartphone can be paired with this system as well, giving you more connectivity and streaming features.
