One of the best ways to save on value as you search for your next light-duty pickup truck near Lewistown, State College, and Bellefonte is to consider shopping earlier model years. Chevy has produced many great trucks in recent years, and the 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 shows that like no other pickup.
What makes the 2015 different from those that came before? You can find out in this review, courtesy of the team at The Lake Dealerships! Read on below and give us a call if you’d like to learn more.
Let’s start by peeking under the hood of the 2015 Silverado 1500. The base trim runs on a 4.3L V6 engine with 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque at your disposal. That’ll give you sufficient power for all your daily driving and light towing and hauling—but there’s more power available if you need it.
There are two optional V8 engines: a 5.3L that delivers 355 horses and 383 lb-ft of torque; and, a 6.2L with a massive 420 horses and 460 lb-ft of torque. For the first time in 2015, the top-tier 6.2L V8 comes mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the other two engines pair with a 6-speed automatic.
With all that available power and smooth transitions from the 8-speed automatic, the 6.2L V8 engine can tow up to 12,000 poundswhen equipped with the Max Trailering Package. That’s no small thing, and it means you can hitch up (more or less) whatever you like and move it to your destination—whether a full-size camper trailer or a large boat.
Even the V6-equipped Chevy Silverado 1500 can tow up to 5,500 pounds with ease, giving it the utility to transport a midsize boat or a loaded cargo trailer. And, with a max payload of 2,270 pounds, the Silverado 1500 makes it easy to move equipment and materials from one job site to another.
Technology in the 2015 Silverado 1500 is impressive, beginning with the Chevrolet MyLink®infotainment system. The standard system controls your AM/FM radio and comes with a 4.2-inch touchscreen, but you can upgrade to the available 8-inch touchscreen for the full experience.
You’ll get features like Navigation, for turn-by-turn directions to your destination, along with Bluetooth®wireless, letting you make calls and stream audio hands-free. But the biggest story is the new built-in Wi-Fi®hotspot, a welcome addition to the 2015 model. Now, you can access the internet on your device from anywhere on the road.
Now that you’ve read about it, what do you think of the 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500? As far as light-duty pickup trucks go, it’s very impressive, with innovative technology and exceptional performance and utility.
