The new Chevy Silverado 2500HD is a high-performing, hard-working, heavy-duty truck that also offers a refined ride and outstanding towing capacity. It stands as the big brother of the well-known Silverado 1500, offering similar styling and comfort, but more power for getting the job done. Drivers across the areas of State College, Bellefonte, and Lewistown know the importance of a truck that can work in harsh conditions, and when the Pennsylvania winters hit, they know this truck will be ready.
It’s a new model year and many are curious as to whether this Chevy will bring anything fresh to the table. Let’s examine a breakdown and review of the new 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, and discover where you can get behind the wheel to drive one home today.
This year, the 2019 Silverado 2500HD hits showrooms with some important changes. Both the regular cab and short-bed double cab model have been removed from the lineup. It still provides solid towing and cargo capacity, offers a refined ride experience, protective build, and still has a diesel engine available.
It can be had with either a standard 6-foot-5-inch bed, or a long 8-foot-2-inch bed. There are two cab options: a double cab or crew cab. The double cab is available only with the long bed, while the crew cab can be had with either the standard or long bed.
Talking of engines, the lineup offers two options. The base level that drives all trim levels is a 6.0-liter V8 matched up with a six-speed automatic transmission. It delivers 360 horsepower, and is backed up with 380 lb-ft of torque. Optionally, you can upgrade to a diesel V8 6.6-liter engine that is capable of generating 445 horsepower, and puts out 910 lb-ft of torque. This one is paired up to an upgraded six-speed automatic.
Finally, if you wish, you can upgrade your 6.0-liter engine to a dual fuel option. This will allow you to run either on conventional gasoline or compressed natural gas (CNG). When properly equipped, the 2500HD can tow up to 18,100 pounds. Maximum payload is rated at 3,204 pounds.
In terms of cargo capacity, the standard bed offers about 61 cubic feet of cargo space, while the extended bed measures in at around 76 cubic feet. In short, you can tow or haul a massive amount of cargo or a large trailer.
The Silverado 2500HD is available in WT (Work Truck), LT, LTZ, and High Country trim levels. Each offers varying degrees of comfort and technology, but even the base level nets you features that a lot of other vehicles don’t, like a driver information display and the Chevy MyLink® Infotainment system with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration, Bluetooth®, and an optional 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot with OnStar® and satellite radio.
Upgrades include full leather upholstery, household-style power outlet, power heated seats, Bose® audio system, and more. These all combine to show that Chevy values a refined ride as well as superior performance.
