There’s a reason why the Ford F-Series is the bestselling line of pickup trucks in the world. This is the manufacturer that set the standard for pickup trucks, whose slogan, “Built Ford Tough,” is as accurate as they come. In fact, the very first pickup truck to become a popular choice across the nation was the Ford Model T pickup. While there had been other pickup truck attempts before that, Ford set the standard and has maintained it for decades.
This legacy carries through to the current model F-150, the leader in light-duty pickup trucks. With fans all over the State College, Lewistown, and Bellefonte region, it’s always an exciting time when a new model arrives on the scene. Let’s find out what the 2019 Ford F-150 has to offer in terms of rugged construction, performance, utility, and more in this review, and learn where you can check one out for yourself.
Ford F-150 MPG
This year’s F-150 model hits showrooms with a number of exciting upgrades. There are two new engines: A 3.0-liter diesel V6 and a high-horsepower version of the 3.5-liter V6 engine with a hefty 36-gallon fuel tank. You also get standard upgraded safety features, including frontal crash warning and automatic emergency braking. All this is taking a class-leading pickup to the next level.
There is a dizzying array of engines available on the new F-150. It starts with a 3.3-liter V6 model. This gives you 290 horsepower with 265 lb-ft of torque. Next up is a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 engine that delivers 325 horsepower with 400 lb-ft of torque. You can also choose a 5.0-liter V8 model that kicks out 395 horsepower and 400 lb-ft.
Fourth up in the lineup is a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine. This one is available in two grades: a 375-horsepower, 470 lb-ft version, and a 450-horsepower, 510 lb-ft of torque version. There’s also a V6 diesel engine at 3.0-liters, which gives you 250 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque.
Naturally, when you choose a pickup, you’re interested in utility and performance. The Ford F-150 offers outstanding towing capacity for a light-duty pickup. Even at the base level engine, you can tow up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. When set up with the proper engine torque and towing package, the Ford F-150 is capable of a maximum 8,000-pound towing capacity. It’s enough to get you anywhere you want to go with just about any size camper, trailer, boat, or flatbed you want to take along.
It also offers a great cargo volume, with options like: a 5.5-foot short bed, 6.5-foot standard bed, or 8-foot long bed, and it’s capable of hauling between 1,485 pounds and 2,311 pounds, depending on the engine configuration you choose. Overall, this is a versatile and capable pickup truck.
